{"id":18671,"date":"2025-05-08T18:09:16","date_gmt":"2025-05-08T18:09:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cuba-foundation.org\/?p=18671"},"modified":"2025-07-17T18:12:15","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T18:12:15","slug":"alejandro-oms-a-cuban-baseball-legend-will-have-a-plaque-in-his-hometown-of-santa-clara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cuba-foundation.org\/es\/alejandro-oms-a-cuban-baseball-legend-will-have-a-plaque-in-his-hometown-of-santa-clara\/","title":{"rendered":"Alejandro Oms, hist\u00f3rico del b\u00e9isbol cubano, tendr\u00e1 una tarja en su natal Santa Clara"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"18671\" class=\"elementor elementor-18671\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-911c073 e-ecs-flex e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"911c073\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;ecs_container_type&quot;:&quot;flex&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a10127c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a10127c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>El estadio Augusto C\u00e9sar Sandino de Santa Clara albergar\u00e1 desde este jueves una tarja en honor a Alejandro Oms, pelotero cubano nacido hace 130 a\u00f1os en esa ciudad, y que durante tres d\u00e9cadas brill\u00f3 en varias ligas profesionales de la isla, Estados Unidos y Venezuela.<\/p><p>Esta iniciativa forma parte de las actividades que desde la Cuba Foundation se impulsan para destacar el impacto cultural del b\u00e9isbol, seg\u00fan han remarcado los organizadores del evento.<\/p><p>El pasado mes de diciembre esta entidad dedicada a la filantrop\u00eda y enfocada, entre otros temas, al deporte cubano y la herencia cultural en la naci\u00f3n, particip\u00f3 en la organizaci\u00f3n y celebraci\u00f3n de una conferencia para conmemorar por el 160 aniversario de la llegada del b\u00e9isbol a Cuba y el 150 del primer juego con anotaciones en la isla, celebrado en el estadio matancero Palmar de Junco.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4ebe6cb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4ebe6cb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>En la ceremonia de develaci\u00f3n estar\u00e1n presente Gustavo Arnavat, fundador y presidente de la Cuba Foundation y el historiador F\u00e9lix Julio Alfonso L\u00f3pez, junto a Omar Vali\u00f1o, director de la Biblioteca Nacional de Cuba y Juan Reynaldo P\u00e9rez Pardo, presidente de la Federaci\u00f3n Cubana de B\u00e9isbol y Softbol.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fb9c3c9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"fb9c3c9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Oms, un \u00edcono en las Ligas de Color<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fd452ec elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fd452ec\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>De acuerdo con varios historiadores, Alejandro Oms dej\u00f3 una huella significativa en el b\u00e9isbol de Cuba, Venezuela y Estados Unidos, donde fue considerado como uno de los mejores jardineros de su \u00e9poca.<\/p><p>Debido a su comportamiento serio y discreto en los diamantes se gan\u00f3 el sobrenombre de El Caballero, muestra del respeto de sus compa\u00f1eros de equipo y aficionados, destacan algunas publicaciones sobre su personalidad.<\/p><p>Despu\u00e9s de destacar en torneos locales, desde 1917 altern\u00f3 presentaciones en la isla con incursiones en Estados Unidos como parte de los Cubans Stars, equipo que desde 1923 comenz\u00f3 a competir en las Ligas de Color del Este, en Estados Unidos.<\/p><p>Durante las siguientes cinco campa\u00f1as Oms se convirti\u00f3 en uno de los bateadores m\u00e1s consistentes del circuito, compilando siempre promedios ofensivos por encima de los .300, destacan diversas fuentes.<\/p><p>Los Cubans Star cambiaron de aires en 1931 al ingresar a la Liga Negra Americana durante tres temporadas. Posteriormente reapareci\u00f3 con el nombre de New York Cubans en 1935, con Oms y el legendario Mart\u00edn Dihigo en su n\u00f3mina.<\/p><p>Sus actuaciones destacadas se extendieron durante varias temporadas hasta los torneos invernales cubanos, principalmente con el representativo de Santa Clara, aunque particip\u00f3 con otros equipos de ese circuito.<\/p><p>En ese per\u00edodo tambi\u00e9n resultaron significativos sus desempe\u00f1os con elencos de onaciones como Rep\u00fablica Dominicana y Venezuela.<\/p><p>Oms lleg\u00f3 a ser considerado como el segundo bateador m\u00e1s destacado de la Liga Invernal Cubana, solo superado por Crist\u00f3bal Torriente. Aunque fue conocido por su calidad a la defensa, en ese circuito gan\u00f3 cinco t\u00edtulos de bateo y mereci\u00f3 el premio al Jugador M\u00e1s Valioso (MVP) en la temporada 1928-29.<\/p><p>Por su meritoria trayectoria el santaclare\u00f1o result\u00f3 exaltado al Sal\u00f3n de la Fama del B\u00e9isbol Cubano en 1944, condici\u00f3n que respalda su designaci\u00f3n como uno de los jugadores cubanos de su \u00e9poca.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It will be placed in the Augusto C\u00e9sar Sandino Stadium.
